Skybase (paragliding companion app) · Last updated: July 13, 2026

Skybase is built and operated by an independent developer operating as GetLostAdv. This policy explains what the app does with your data. The short version: almost everything stays on your own device, and we never sell or share your contact information.

Data stored on your device

Skybase is offline-first. Your flights, logbook, saved sites, gear, routes, settings, and emergency-contact details are stored locally on your phone (on-device database and files). You can export all of it at any time from Settings → Your data → Export my data. Uninstalling the app removes this data from your device.

Optional features that use the internet

Some features fetch or send data over the internet, and every one of them is opt-in and off by default:

SMS safety alerts

If you opt in to the automatic overdue alert, Skybase can send a single automated SMS text message to the emergency contact you have designated, if you are overdue from a flight and have not checked in. The message contains a short notice and your last known position.

We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or your emergency contact's phone number with any third party for marketing purposes. Phone numbers are used solely to deliver the safety alert you requested, via our SMS provider (Twilio).

Message frequency: extremely low — typically only a few messages per year, and only when an overdue condition actually occurs.

Message and data rates may apply. Standard carrier message and data rates may be charged to the recipient by their mobile carrier.

The recipient can reply STOP to opt out of receiving these messages at any time, or HELP for help.

What we do not do

Data retention (cloud features)

Where opt-in cloud features store data on our backend (e.g. a live position, a posted site report, or an active overdue watch), those records are kept only briefly and auto-deleted on short retention windows. They hold no logbook data — your phone remains the source of truth.

Children

Skybase is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
