Delete Your Data

Skybase (paragliding companion app) · Last updated: July 16, 2026

This page explains how to delete the data Skybase holds, both on your device and on our servers. Skybase has no user accounts — the app identifies your device with an anonymous key, and almost all of your data lives only on your own phone.

Data on your device (everything by default)

Your flights and IGC track files, logbook, saved sites, gear, routes, settings and emergency-contact details are stored only on your phone. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all of it. You can export a copy first from Settings → Your data → Export my data.

Data on our servers (only if you used opt-in features)

Server-side data exists only if you turned on live sharing or safety features. Most of it deletes itself automatically on a short clock:

DataKept for
Live in-flight positions (with your display name)Deleted ~1 hour after your last update
Site condition reports (display name + short text)Deleted after 48 hours
Overdue-safety watches (your name, contact's name & phone)Deleted ~1 hour after you check in, or 1 day after the expected return time
SMS send log (contact number stored only as a one-way hash)Deleted after 7 days
SMS enrollment ledger (one-way phone hash, no raw number)Deleted after 180 days
Crowd thermal points (anonymous, aggregated — no name or identity)Up to 2 years
Flying-group memberships (anonymous device key + group code)Until you leave the group, or on request

How to request deletion

To have every server-side record connected to you removed ahead of the automatic schedule above:

  1. Email kajoadv@gmail.com with the subject “Skybase data deletion request”.
  2. Include your in-app display name (Settings → Buddies) and, if you used flying groups, the group code(s) you joined — that is how we locate your anonymous records, since there is no account.
  3. We will delete the matching records and confirm by reply within 30 days (usually much sooner).

If you also want your device data gone, simply uninstall the app — we never have a copy of your flights, logbook or settings.

What is kept after a deletion request

Nothing identifying you. Anonymous, aggregated crowd-thermal points cannot be traced back to a device or person and may remain until their normal 2-year expiry. There are no backups of the deleted rows beyond the platform's short-lived operational backups, which expire automatically.
